Terms & Conditions
The First Nations Business Directory is an online directory intended for Australian businesses, organisations, and service providers. Any listing deemed, considered or suspected by our moderation team to be non-Australian, or otherwise unsuitable, may be rejected, removed or denied publishing rights at the sole discretion of the First Nations Business Directory administration team. The First Nations Business Directory exists to help Australian business owners and community members share their details online and reach prospective customers with useful, relevant products, services and organisations.
Listing Eligibility Requirements
To list your business or organisation in the First Nations Business Directory, you must meet one or more of the following requirements:
Majority First Nations-owned business, company or organisation: We respectfully ask that if your business or organisation is not majority First Nations-owned, that you do not list within this directory. Not every individual associated with the business needs to be First Nations or Torres Strait Islander — but the majority of ownership or management does.
First Nations Service Providers: An organisation that provides a service specifically for First Nations and/or Torres Strait Islander communities (for example, a government health service for First Nations Australians).
First Nations Business Directory moderators reserve the right to refuse publication of any business or organisation suspected of not meeting one of the above requirements. If a paid listing is refused, a full refund will be provided if the listing has not yet been published, or a pro-rata refund will be issued based on the remaining time left in the listing cycle.
First Nations Business Directory moderators also reserve the right to decline publication of, or to remove, any listing deemed inappropriate, unsuitable, unhelpful, or otherwise inconsistent with the values and purpose of this directory. First Nations Business Directory offers no guarantee of publication or approval.
Content Sharing & Social Media
By joining the First Nations Business Directory, you authorise us to share your business details online, including via our social media platforms, to help connect you with prospective customers. If you do not wish your products, logos or images to be shared on our social media channels, please notify us by emailing support@firstnationsbusinessdirectory.au.
When you publish your business details and content on the First Nations Business Directory, you are required to comply with these Terms & Conditions. “Business details and content” refers to anything present on your business listing. Failure to comply may result in your listing being hidden, your account being suspended, or your account being terminated. These restrictions apply in addition to any other policies governing your use of the First Nations Business Directory.
Fair Play Policy
First Nations Business Directory reserves the right to block, delete, reject or refuse publishing and advertising rights to any party, person or business believed to be in breach of any of the terms outlined in this document. We reserve the right to decline to provide justification for such decisions.
Business Listings
By submitting a business listing, you certify that you are an authorised representative of that business, brand, organisation or individual, and that you have the authority to create and manage the listing. You agree to take full responsibility for any consequences arising from that listing.
First Nations Business Directory takes no responsibility for modifications made to a business listing. Disputes regarding listing ownership or authorisation will be handled offline. The right to delete a business listing is reserved solely by our team, and such requests will only be acted upon for legitimate legal reasons.
First Nations Business Directory reserves the right to disassociate any author from any listing at any time at our discretion — for example, in cases of prolonged inactivity or a lack of response following multiple contact attempts. As the listing author, you are responsible for ensuring your listing information remains accurate and up to date. Listing updates can be requested at any time via the contact page on our website.
We reserve the right to refuse certain advertising packages to businesses considered to be in direct competition with our core business offering or that of our other business interests.
Prohibited Content & Conduct
Illegal Content
First Nations Business Directory does not allow content that is illegal, promotes illegal activity, or infringes on the legal rights of others.
Intellectual Property
First Nations Business Directory does not allow content that infringes copyright. It is our policy to respond to notices of alleged infringement in accordance with ACCC guidelines. We do not allow content that promotes or facilitates the sale of counterfeit products — that is, goods bearing a trademark or logo identical to or substantially indistinguishable from another brand’s trademark, in an attempt to pass themselves off as genuine.
Excessive Listings
First Nations Business Directory reserves the right to block, delete, reject or refuse publishing rights to any party believed to be submitting excessive listings or content. For example, a business that creates a separate listing for every suburb it services may be considered in breach of this policy.
Endangered or Threatened Species
We do not allow content that promotes the sale of products obtained from endangered or threatened species.
Dangerous or Derogatory Content
First Nations Business Directory does not allow content that incites hatred against, promotes discrimination of, or disparages an individual or group on the basis of race, ethnic origin, religion, disability, age, nationality, veteran status, or other characteristics associated with systemic discrimination or marginalisation. We do not allow content that harasses, intimidates or bullies an individual or group of individuals. We do not allow content that threatens or advocates for harm to oneself or others, including content promoting self-harm, glorifying violence, or produced by or in support of terrorist groups or activities. We do not allow content that exploits others through extortion or other coercive means.
Dishonest or Deceptive Behaviour
First Nations Business Directory does not allow content that helps users mislead others, promotes hacking or unauthorised access to systems or devices, misrepresents or conceals information about a business or its listing, entices users under false pretences or engages in phishing, promotes products or services using false or deceptive claims, or falsely implies an affiliation with or endorsement by another individual, organisation, product or service.
Malicious Software
We do not allow content that contains or distributes malicious software of any kind — including viruses, ransomware, spyware, trojan horses or keyloggers — designed to harm, monitor or gain unauthorised access to a device, system or network.
Sexually Explicit Content
We do not allow content that includes graphic sexual text, images, audio, video or interactive media of any kind.
Adult Products
First Nations Business Directory is a family-friendly platform. We do not allow content that promotes sexualised products or adult services. We ask that businesses in these categories seek a more appropriate industry-specific directory.
Adult Themes in Family Content
We do not allow content that is presented as suitable for a family audience but contains adult themes, including sexual content, violence, or depictions of children or popular children’s characters that are unsuitable for a general audience.
These Terms & Conditions may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the First Nations Business Directory constitutes acceptance of the current terms.
